Area Profile
Zermatt
Zermatt nestled at the foot of the incomparable Matterhorn, has made itself into one of the worlds great ski resorts. The village itself is unique being car free, with a vibrant zing and many exclusive shops, gourmet restaurants and luxury hotels.
The skiing is as excellent as you would expect from such a famed resort, especially for advanced and ntermediate skiers. It offers access to 313km of some of the highest slopes in Europe. The wide open runs of the Sunnegga and Trokenersteg provide the ideal terrain for beginners, while the slopes of the Gornergrat, reached after an amazing cog wheel train journey, should be easily manageable after a few lessons.
Zermatt is a true intermediates paradise with a tremendous variety of runs available including scenic descents through trees and long red runs. Every good skier should experience the challenging black runs, fantastic off-piste and guaranteed snow. Try the Trifti - one of Europe's longest and most difficult mogul slopes.
Zermatt is able to offer some of the most sophisticated night life in the Alps, as well as some of the liveliest.
