Area Profile

Ohau Snow Fields

Lake Ohau Snow Fields is 320km, approx 3.5 hours, south of Christchurch.

The mountain caters for all abilities. With the installation of the double chair lift a couple of years ago and some slope grooming most intermediates are now able to enjoy the flat wide slopes at the top of the mountain and cruise down the Boulevard very comfortably.  There is great hiking around the tops for the more adventurous accessing the best powder snow. The views from there are magnificent and definitely worth the effort.

At the end of a great day in the mountains, there is nothing better than knowing you're only 20 minutes from a hot spa with a gluhwein in your hand or a cold beer in the bar. The Lake Ohau Lodge is 15 minutes from the ski field and has 75 rooms and offers four styles of accommodation from backpacker facilities to luxury double rooms.
