Area Profile

Broken River

Broken River provides a superb alpine adventure. The terrain is a series of rolling bowls with awesome runs which challenge all levels of snowboarders and skiers from beginner to expert. The surrounding basins provide superb untracked terrain for the more adventurous.

Broken River is located within 1.5 hours of Christchurch. The base of the lift facilities are located within a 5 minute walk of the lodges.

The terrain at broken river consists of a large open basin serviced by 5 high capacity rope tows. The highest point is 1820 meters and the total vertical is 420 meters, while the more experienced have lots of off piste to choose from. A short walk offers access to the back basins and Craigieburn Valley, these areas offer some incredible terrain suited to more advanced skiers.

Broken River operates from late June through to early October. It is very fortunate in that there is normally plenty of snow.
