Garmisch - Partenkirchen is Germany's 'Winter Sports Capital' and is located not far from the Austrian border. It is particularly famous for its New Year Ski jumping competition which is held annually and televised all over the world.
The resort compromises by not only being a great place to ski, but also with it being the former site of the Winter Olympics, the town is so large that it has plenty to do on and off the slopes!
