Area Profile
Jahorina
The war in 1992 left a nasty mark on this beautiful resort. However, over recent years, almost all buildings at the resort have been renovated, and a couple of new hotels have been built.
The closest city to Jahorina is Sarajevo, from where the mountain is accessible by well kept access road. Please be advised that the roads are not salted, so you will need tire chains.
Jahorina's highest peak is Ogorjelica (1916m) and the resort itself spans from 1300 – 1880m above sea level. There are about 20 km of ski trails, connected with 4 two-seater lifts, 3 one-seater lifts, and a baby lift, with the total capacity of 7200 skiers per hour. There are 14 black trails, 14 red, and 4 blue.
Jahorina offers numerous food stops, there are many grill huts with terraces at which you can relax and enjoy well known Bosnian specialties. Also alongside every chair lift you will find a stand with cold drinks, chocolates and cigarettes.
Accomodation - The most cost effective way is to rent one of the cottages near the trails. Alternatively, there are many hotels and guesthouses available.
