Area Profile
Thredbo
Thredbo is a fully self-contained ski village situated beneath Mt Kosciuszko, Australia's tallest mountain. It is one of Australias leading ski resorts. It has the largest snowmaking system in the southern hemisphere and some of the steepest trails.
It is modelled on a European skiing town and unlike Perisher Blue it is an actual town with lodges, shopping and nightlife.
Thredbo has over 50 ski runs and uses the standard 3-colour grade system. The longest continual run is from the top of Karel's T-Bar to Friday Flat and is 5.9km long. The longest single run is the Crackenback Supertrail being 3.7km long. The hardest run in Thredbo is Funnel Web said to notorious for its near-vertical middle section.
Thredbo has a modern and efficient lift system that lets you ride in comfort all day long. There are 14 lifts to take you around Thredbo’s varied alpine terrain. The high speed quad chairs enable you to spend more time riding and less time travelling. The Kosciuszko Express can whisk you from bottom to top in just 7 minutes.
Snow season is typically June until the beginning of October.
